There appears to be great interest in resurrecting the Skye & Lochalsh Food festival. What are your views?

This is something that Skye and Lochalsh Food Link (SLFL) - the food and drink sector's local representative body - is looking at for Year of Homecoming. Past festivals were a huge success but it took an enormous amount of resource to run a high quality event. The inaugural Food Festival (1999) was shortlisted for the Scottish Thistle Awards, though we were pipped at the post by the Arran Taste Trail - a welcome winner.

We are looking at the feasibility of a two day event with producer market focus during the day and hotel/restaurant focus in the evenings.

SLFL will be approaching a potential sponsor in the near future. Watch this space, and in the meantime visit www.tastelocal.co.uk - it's the natural choice!

I believe this is a topic that all of our area will benefit from. As restauranteurs I am sure that both my partner and I would gain a great deal. We may even be able to give something that others could enjoy.
