Walkhighlands.co.uk are planning a number of Homecoming 09 self-guided walks which will be on the site early in the new year. They will feature historical spots where there were clearances or mass migration and provide some history in relation to clans, where people went etc and link this to the walk. We are not qualified or insured to take people on actual walks, but we thought maybe if there was anyone in the Forum who wanted to organise actual walking events around Homecoming we could help supply routes and other info. We can't get to the next meeting but have given info to David who can pass on details if necessary.
Cheers

I think this is a great idea. If anyone is interested in guiding them, wonder if walks could be arranged for specific weekends both on and off season and they could be advertised on the Skye & Lochalsh website? Then accommodation owners could also offer special deals to link in with dates. This would be particularly good during the quieter months?

I'm sure that Lochalsh Trails Club and its offshoot Lochalsh Walking Club will be very interested in this. I am on the committee so will mention it at our next meeting.
